From "O Mirabile Mysterium," my body of work illuminating Genesis 1. This work explores Day Seven of Creation, when God rested in his cosmic temple, sanctifying time itself.
〰️
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. —Genesis 2:1-3
Lord of the Sabbath, you weren’t content to create the world and observe it from afar—you came to dwell with your creatures on the seventh day, which you made to last forever. I wonder how the eternal and the temporal could exist together within that deathless day. Then, I remember your blessing—your voice covered all that was good with your holiness. Within the circle of your sanctification, I can witness your eternal glory without fear, abiding in the shelter of your wings.
Oh God the Geometer, you inscribed your boundary upon the face of a wasteland so you could carve out a place of flourishing for all of your creatures. You laid out the lines of your cosmic dwelling, containing all in all. Is time just a material to you, too, like water or clay? Do you shape it as you wish, delighting in what you have made?
I wonder if the seventh day is just another circle—a place where the beginning and the end meet and find completion in you. Jesus, you are God and flesh, maker and mankind. You are my dwelling place that will outlast all planets, stars, and light.
The universe is your holy dwelling, and there is no place I can go where you cannot follow. Oh Lord, if you are always with me, why do I wonder where you are? Captivate my limited imagination with your eternal presence. You are my defender and sustainer, so I can be at rest in the land you have made. You hold the whole world in place with a perpetual provision from your outstretched hand. Inscribe your boundary on my heart, and bring me into the everlasting circle of your rest.

All artwork is signed on the back. Can be signed on the front at collector's request.
Keep in mind that paintings can look slightly different in person. I paint using a lot of texture, so they are even better when you can see them in person - it is hard to capture here!
